Wish Farms recently donated 15 flats of fresh Florida blueberries to the Greater Brandon Kiwanis Club for the “Smile Club” at Gibsonton Elementary School. The fresh blueberries were a special addition to the backpack of food the Kiwanians provide weekly for each Smile Club member.
Childhood hunger is a major challenge in Hillsborough County. Nearly all the children at Gibsonton Elementary receive free breakfast and lunch during school. However, there is often a gap in food on the weekends. The Smile Club backpacks are often the only food these children will get for a weekend.
The blueberries were a wonderful addition and a huge hit with the kids!
