How to Choose a Great Cantaloupe

The key to choosing an excellent Athena Cantaloupe at your local supermarket or farmer’s market is to just follow your nose. When you find one that you think is good take a deep sniff and it should smell very sweet. Next, take a close look at the bottom of the melon opposite the stem and it should be firm with a little flex. If this section is soft it means that it has more water than it should and will tend to not be as sweet.
